To commemorate Older Americans Month, the Montgomery County Commission on Aging will host its annual forum on Thursday, May 5, in Gaithersburg. This year’s theme is “In-Home Care: We Can do Better,” and it will be held during the City of Gaithersburg’s Active Aging Expo. Anyone with an interest in this important topic, including residents, caregivers, advocates, policy analysts, and service providers, is urged to attend the free event.

The forum will be held from 9:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. at the Bohrer Park Activity Center located at 506 South Frederick Road in Gaithersburg. The event also will be available virtually through Zoom. Although the event is free, registration is encouraged. Register at https://bit.ly/COAHomeCare.

“Many older adults need a helping hand with household chores or assistance with their medicines so they can continue living in their homes,” said Barbara Selter, chair of the commission. “Our goal is to identify ways to help people get the services they need. This year’s forum topic is the Commission’s top priority this year.”

The event will offer insights into how in-home services can be delivered to better meet the needs of Montgomery County’s diverse and growing population of older adults. Presenters and panelists will describe programs that are now available and suggest actions to strengthen and improve current approaches to in-home care. Featured speakers are recognized experts in the field, including Joanne Lynn and Robyn Stone.
